3 JOKERS Williams (USA)Monté, jouableJamaisThis is a sample unit of 3 Jokers produced in the spring of 1970, as inferred by Jay Stafford of the IPDB. It has two serial numbers: the cabinet is serialized 65384, but the lightbox is 65382. Found in long-term storage at Action Pinball Warehouse in Minnesota, it was one of the first handful of games I bought after becoming infatuated with EMs in the fall of 2010. I was enamored with the artwork on the backglass, which was in practically flawless condition. The cabinet and playfield, however, were not nearly as nice—especially the latter, which had horrible damage where a previous owner drilled new post holes—so I foolishly set out to improve things by following every cockamamie restoration technique I read on the internet. I tried to touch up the cabinet, but this effort snowballed into nearly every square inch of paint getting replaced. The same thing happened with the playfield, on which only tiny fragments of original artwork now remain. Being a total novice, I made many dumb mistakes and suffered many frustrating setbacks, so this project got shelved a half-dozen times over the years. But now, in 2019, it is finally done.
ABRA CA DABRA Gottlieb (USA)Monté, jouableJamaisNovember 2020: I found a nicer, low-miles Abra Ca Dabra that will displace my other project. Serial number 04372, 40k clicks on the meter. December 2023: another deep restoration completed. Playfield by Wade Krause, backglass by Ron Webb, plastics by Pinball Rescue, sweat by me. Combine ’em all, you get magic!
ATLANTIS Gottlieb (USA)Monté, jouableJamaisPicked up June 2014 in Lincoln, Nebraska. S/N 06856. Previous owner bought it from a YMCA in 1980. With over 99k plays on the meter, it must have been on free play for the kids. Still, the playfield is largely intact, though filthy and swirled. Much better are the coin door and backglass, the latter being original and 99% perfect. The cabinet is scratched to bare wood in places and has some graffiti, but is still pretty good. August 2020 update: I just completed a 220-hour cosmetic and mechanical restoration job on it. The finished game—replete with a Wade Krause reproduction playfield—is now installed in the game room. Hooray!
BLAST OFF Williams (USA)Monté, jouableJamaisBought from Stashyboy, who gave it a very nice restoration.
BON VOYAGE Bally (USA)Démonté, à restaurerJamaisThe seller was a retired dentist who bought this game (serial number 2115) in 1980. His kids are grown and gone, none of them want it, and he needed the space. Some of the magenta on the cabinet has faded away—mostly around the coin door—and the particle board back has a missing chunk, but it’s otherwise sound and should make for a nice player.
CARD WHIZ Gottlieb (USA)Démonté, à restaurerJamaisMay 2018: I bought a very nice Card Whiz (SN 07347) from a woman whose family has owned it since 1980; it was her Christmas present that year. It has the best-looking backglass for this game I have ever seen. Except for the foam padding marks, it’s perfect. Very glad to have this game again. I missed my old one, beater though it was.
CENTIGRADE 37 Gottlieb (USA)Monté, jouableJamaisPicked up in July 2014. My second Centigrade 37 from DirtFlipper. A couple of notches nicer than the previous one. Serial number 04930 with 50k clicks on the replay meter. Restoration completed December 2017. Lotta elbow grease went into this one. The magenta on the cabinet was resprayed to bring it back to its former glory. The playfield was touched up, inserts leveled, and clearcoated with lacquer. A Ron Webb reproduction backglass was the finishing touch.
CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND Gottlieb (USA)Démonté, fonctionnantJamaisEM version. Flawless backglass.
DIMENSION Gottlieb (USA)Monté, jouableJamaisSerial number 04219. Picked up spring 2014 from another collector in Iowa. It was in rough condition all around: a poor cabinet that had been repainted twice, a badly flaking backglass, broken plastics, and a playfield with worse than average wear. The antidote was a donor cabinet with a new stencil job, a NOS playfield, a reproduction backglass, a set of reproduction plastics, a giant order from PBR, and a whole lot of work. The NOS playfield came with some defects that I covered with vinyl decals of my own design. The presence of strong black keylines on the playfield art camouflages them nicely. Restoration completed September 2018.
GOLD STRIKE Gottlieb (USA)Monté, jouableJamaisLocated on eBay December 2015 and shipped to me from Schenectady, NY. Serial number 05425. This is a formidable project that will be getting a donor cabinet, a Wade Krause playfield, a Shay Assad backglass, and a lot of my time. Restoration completed March 2017.
GOLDEN ARROW Gottlieb (USA)Démonté, à restaurerJamaisSerial number 06164 with 68k clicks on the meter, this Golden Arrow was abandoned in the laundry room of an apartment building in Minneapolis. The landlord sold the property in May 2018 but didn’t take the game, and the new owner had no use for it. Given its location in a commons area, the condition could have been terrible. Against the odds, it’s actually quite nice. The only bad thing is the delaminating paint on the top of the lightbox, presumably from a leaky overhead pipe. The best part is the unfaded and flake-free backglass; it’s rare to find a nice original on this game. It’s going to need a plastic set and a set of paperwork. Please let me know If you have originals of the latter for sale.
JUMPING JACK Gottlieb (USA)Monté, jouableJamaisThis Jumping Jack has been in my collection since spring 2011. I drove 12 hours to get it from a former operator living in rural Michigan. It’s actually a composite of three machines, including a bottom cabinet for Jack in the Box. This was also the first game I resuscitated from being completely inoperable, which was a big deal for me at the time. Of course, I barely knew what I was doing, and the game needed much more attention and detailing. Over the years, its wobbly cabinet, worn playfield, and buggy gameplay bothered me more and more. When I ran out of space earlier this year, I decided to sell it. But first: it needed a little TLC so the cabinet didn’t collapse and the gameplay was 100%. One thing led to another. And another. Then it became too nice to sell! So now, November 2019, it’s back in the game room.
KING PIN Gottlieb (USA)Monté, jouableJamaisThis was my first pinball machine, picked up in October 2010. It was listed on Craiglist but was actually located just one mile from my house.
LUCKY HAND Gottlieb (USA)Monté, jouableJamaisFound late 2011 on Craigslist near Milwaukee. The owners were a young married couple who met working together at Organ Piper Pizza, which was owned and operated by the husband's grandparents, who gave them this fine example of a Lucky Hand, which was on location in the pizzeria's game room for a number of years. Comprehensive mechanical restoration and light cosmetic corrections completed in November 2014.
PALOOKA Williams (USA)Démonté, à restaurerJamaisAfter cleaning it up, this playfield will shine like new.
PIN-UP Gottlieb (USA)Monté, jouableJamaisThis nice survivor was acquired in Minneapolis, July 2015. Serial number 06577. Clean internals made for a speedy restoration, completed 9/2015.
PIONEER Gottlieb (USA)Monté, jouableJamaisNice and clean example that was picked up locally in April 2022. SN 08653 and 42.8k clicks on the replay meter. It was recently refurbished so it can go right into the game room!
POP-A-CARD Gottlieb (USA)Monté, jouableJamais
SHIP AHOY Gottlieb (USA)Démonté, à restaurerJamais
SING ALONG Gottlieb (USA)Monté, doit être réparéJamaisCosmetically uneven but functional project game given to me by a friend in February 2024. The playfield has been crudely slathered with an oil-based finish that is badly yellowed. Fortunately, I have a spare playfield that can be restored and a brand-new reproduction backglass from Ron Webb. Someday this could be a nice game! 92.5k clicks on the meter, serial number 02501.
SKILL-ROLL  Bally (USA)Monté, doit être réparéJamaisPicked up from DirtFlipper, July 2017. Serial number BA1292. It came with a replacement coin door I painted and installed.
SPIRIT OF 76 Gottlieb (USA)Bon pour piècesJamaisNo cabinet, but nearly everything in between. Some components are gouged and bent. Somebody must have pushed this game down a stairwell. No twinges of guilt raiding this corpse for parts!
TARGET ALPHA Gottlieb (USA)Monté, jouableJamais
VOLLEY Gottlieb (USA)Démonté, fonctionnantJamaisApril 2019: I am the fortunate new owner of this super-duper Volley. Serial number 08571. 35k replays.

2001 Gottlieb (USA)Vendu Grabbed this ‘2001’ from a Craigslist ad, fall of 2011. Serial number 05858, 73k clicks on the replay meter. I was going to restore this game, but I found a Dimension instead. Now it’s sold, February 2019.
4 SQUARE Gottlieb (USA)Vendu Pandemic pickup, September 2020. S/N 05365, 60k plays. Nice playfield, mediocre cabinet, terrible backglass. Sold October 2021.
ABRA CA DABRA Gottlieb (USA)Vendu Traded for Drop-a-Card summer of 2013, sold to BintzKnocker November 2020. This project has survived water damage and a rodent infestation yet will still make a nice game. The only thing I did was recover the serial number (05753) which a crooked operator scrubbed from nearly everywhere.
ATLANTIS Gottlieb (USA)Vendu Great game, looking for another.
BLUE CHIP Williams (USA)Vendu Sold October 2021.
BON VOYAGE Bally (USA)Vendu Another one of these fell out of the sky. Sold October 2021.

CARD WHIZ Gottlieb (USA)Vendu Sold January 2015.
CENTIGRADE 37 Gottlieb (USA)Vendu Traded a sample Lucky Hand to DirtFlipper for this nice example in May 2013. Less than 30k plays on the replay meter. Serial number 5473. Sold 10/16/2014.
DROP-A-CARD Gottlieb (USA)Vendu Sold November 2013.
DROP-A-CARD Gottlieb (USA)Vendu Traded for Abra Ca Dabra in May 2013.
FIREBALL Bally (USA)Vendu June 2016: this multiball favorite is a welcome addition to the game room. Serial number 3545 with 63k plays on the meter. Fun skill shot, and the spinning disk never fails to delight new players. Sold December 2019.
FLIPPER CLOWN Gottlieb (USA)Vendu Sold December 2021.
GOLDEN ARROW Gottlieb (USA)Vendu Very nice playfield, problematic backglass, largely good cabinet. 35K plays on the meter. Serial number 6131.

JOKER POKER Gottlieb (USA)Vendu Acquired March 2015. EM version and sample game, serial number 01081S. 52k games clocked on the replay meter. NOS backglass. Sold October 2021.
JUNGLE QUEEN Gottlieb (USA)Vendu
KING OF DIAMONDS Gottlieb (USA)Vendu Borderline parts machine. Sold November 2013.

KING OF DIAMONDS Gottlieb (USA)Vendu One of two project machines. One will be for sale. Sold October 2021.
LUCKY HAND Gottlieb (USA)Vendu Sample machine 1004S. Traded for Centigrade 37 in May 2013.
MINI POOL Gottlieb (USA)Vendu Found on Mr. Pinball Classifieds late 2016 and picked up spring 2017 from a long-time collector who was exiting the hobby. Modestly flawed but largely virtuous original, S/N 09092. Sold December 2023 to a local collector.
NEPTUNE Gottlieb (USA)Vendu SN 6228. Restored by Robert Urbanowicz of PinballMania LLC in fall 2012. He repainted the cabinet with accurate stencils and installed a NOS playfield he sourced from Donal Murphy, RIP. I added a Ron Webb reproduction backglass in June 2013. Sold June 2017.
OLD CHICAGO Bally (USA)Vendu Serial number 3894. Found on Craigslist in February 2016. Seven hungry scavengers vied for it, but a good friend provided essential assistance so it could be mine. My wife says the playfield looks like a birthday cake. Sold April 2019 to make space for other projects.
PRO POOL Gottlieb (USA)Vendu Serial number 06399. Bought July 2017 from DirtFlipper, who (in his words) "bought this game from John in Milwaukee, who got it from Alex, who got it from Dave, who got it from Sean (in 2014). Sean's Dad bought it from Sean's uncle in 1982. Whew! Very nice shape overall, and has been well taken care of over the years." Fun game, but I have a feeling it will be a short-timer in the line-up. Sold to Pinball763, October 2018.
PRO-FOOTBALL Gottlieb (USA)Vendu Traded for Spanish Eyes in November 2012.
ROYAL GUARD Gottlieb (USA)Vendu Sold November 2013.
SINBAD Gottlieb (USA)Vendu Sold November 2013.
SORCERER Williams (USA)Vendu Picked up October 2015. I'm not crazy about solid state games, but I couldn't turn down this one. A seasoned SS technician went through the machine, replaced failed components, and made the game more reliable. Sold to a local collector pal May 2017. I didn't even bother to get the serial number.
SPACE RIDERS Atari (USA)Vendu Sold November 2013.
SPANISH EYES Williams (USA)Vendu Decent example. Cleaned, shopped, and sold June 2019.
SPIN-A-CARD Gottlieb (USA)Vendu Picked up in a trade, September 2013. Serial number 05674, 29k clicks on the meter. Sold April 2022.
STRAIGHT FLUSH Williams (USA)Vendu
TRIPLE STRIKE Williams (USA)Vendu Sold October 2015.
